We are determined to make the current generation the future conservationists and ensure a sustainable conservation around Rwanda and the East African region. The national parks of Rwanda are protected ecosystems and wildlife reserves located within the borders of Rwanda in East Central Africa. With Birding and Educational Tours Ltd young generations get chance to learn more about the beauty of Rwanda as well as East Africa while visiting protected areas and discover their beauty. The following are samples of parks of Rwanda:
Akagera National Park
Akagera National Park is located in the East of Rwanda, on the Tanzanian and Ugandan borders with an area of 100,000 ha. This beautiful game reserve protects an archetypal African savannah landscape of tangled acacia and brachystegia bush, interspersed with patches of open grassland and a dozen swamp-fringed lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River. Its most heterogeneous savanna ecosystem in the region makes the park to have a variety of wildlife and is especially good for birding. It hosts over 500 species including the rare Red-faced Barbet, Shoebill Stork and Papyrus Gonolek , Tabora Cisticola, White-winged Warbler. etc. A plenty of animals to visit include Elephants, Buffalo, Zebra, Girrafe, Impala, Cape Eland, Topis, Hippos, Crocodiles, and during the safaris, rare wildlife species can be seen such as Leopard and Lion.
Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park is located in northwest of Rwanda and borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. It is the most famous destination in Rwanda and is known as a heaven for the Mountain Gorilla. Birding and Educational Tours Ltd takes adults and young people (15 year and plus) to watch the group of Gorillas playing, sulking, teasing each other, eating, grooming, etc.
Additionally, the park is inhabited by a variety of other primates such as endemic and endemic golden monkeys (Cercopithecus mitis kandti) and other interested wildlife including elephants, buffalo, bushbucks, black-fronted duikers, spotted hyenas, and around 200 species of birds.
At VNP, you can also find more enjoyments like hiking to the Volcanoes (Karisimbi, Bisoke, etc.), visiting the Tomb of Dian Fossey where you learn the history of this courageous American, who habituated and studied behaviours of Gorillas and sacrificed her life to these endangered animals.
Nyungwe National Park
The Nyungwe rainforest is probably the best preserved montane rainforest in Central Africa. It is located in southwestern Rwanda, at the border with Burundi, to the south and Lake to the west, in the watershed between the Congo Basin to the west and the basin of the river Nile to the east. Nyungwe Forest National Park is a vast untouched tropical rainforest with a high, dense canopy extending for 1,020 km2 across the majestic hills of south east of Rwanda and within this area boasts a diverse ecosystem from rain forest, bamboo, grassland, swamps and bog habitats.
The forest is home to 300 species of birds, 13 different primate species, hundreds of butterflies and orchids, and over 75 different species of mammals. Birding and Educational Tours Ltd arranges your safaris for chimpanzees tracking and get opportunity to see different bird species including Great-blue Turaco, the rare Grauer’s Rush Warbler and a quasi-endemic to Nyungwe Forest “Red-collared Mountain Babbler’’.
Lakes and Wetlands
Rwanda has many wetlands and lakes such as Lake Kivu, Twins Lakes (Burera and Ruhondo), Lake Ihema, Rugezi Marsh, Lakes of Bugesera (more than 7), etc. This sweet water Inlands Sea offers great swimming, relaxation, interaction with locals as well as other activities in the areas like fishing. With boat ride on the lakes waterbird species are easily seen including African Darter, Night Herons, Cattle Eggret, Shoebill, etc.
Kigali city tour
The city of Kigali was founded in 1907 by Dr. Richard Kandt under German colonial rule, but did not become the capital until Rwandan independence in 1962.
Through the guided City tour organized by Birding and Educational Tours LTD you discover the old and new Kigali, learn the world ever tragedy at the Kigali Genocide memorial site where over 259,000 genocide victims are eternally resting in mass graves, Dr. Richard Kandt Museum who was the first Germany explorer to settle in Kigali, craft markets of your choice etc,
Rwanda has a rich culture and strong traditions. Rwanda’s traditional Agaseke “baskets” became famous around the world as well as the Imigongo, handcrafted paintings and the pottery projects. A wide range of traditional handicrafts is produced in rural Rwanda, ranging from ceramics and basketry to traditional woodcarvings and contemporary paintings.
The tour introduces our visitors to the unique modeling and paintings called IMIGONGO. They use cow dung from calves and mix it with ash and then make different designs ranging from the back of elephant, elbow designs to mention but a few because the designs come from their memories about different things or items etc.
Pastoralist Village Tour: The culture of pastoralist has been hereditary; the social characteristics of the Rwandese pastoralists can still be traced in parts of the eastern province. The tour takes you to the pastoralist village where you observe and participate in the tradition cattle grazing and milking, get ready to make your own traditional rain coat from grass.
The richness of a country’s history and heritage are very important aspects that create an identity for people of any nation in the world. Rwanda has a rich history that dates back to the Kingdoms, colonial and post colonial times; which has for long not been explored to attract local and foreign tourism, and create awareness on the culture of the Rwandan people. Birding and Educational Tours Ltd, is tourism and research-conservation Company contributing to environmental management and its sustainability in Rwanda and Great Lakes Region. Additional to providing information on the attractive species i.e endemic and rare species, we conduct the annual waterbird counting in collaboration with International Waterbird Counting Scheme.

Assisting students on the BSc thesis (with topics on birds), hosting local and international interns to work side by side to get direct experience and immersion in the field, searching for answers to important environmental problems

Transport of students and researchers on the field of work (We have 2 nice prado cars accommodating 6 people each, but also we arrange transport for many people i.e Mini and Omnibus, Coaster)
We arrange also educational tourism with international students or researchers who, after their research work, wish to visit the Rwandan and Ugandan attractions i.e National Parks, cultural and historical sites, genocide memorial, etc.

Birding and Educational Tours Ltd is aiming at promoting avi-tourism, raising the birding awareness and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources and development through the professional tourism based on searched information.
We provide Trainings in travel and tourism for local guides, at national and bird routes levels. Through trainings we provide basic and advanced skills in bird identification and guiding, animal behaviors, customer care, itinerary designing, costing safaris and environmental ethics further in a practical way.
CROP PRODUCTION AND VALUE CHAIN
Rwanda produces a high quality of coffee and one of the best tea in the world. Birding and Educational Tours Ltd helps you to realize your dreams through enjoying tea and the whole process of coffee and tea plantation, harvesting and processing from farm to cup. We also assist you to learn how other product and food i.e local yoghurt, cheese, fruit juice are produced.
Rwanda suffered the genocide of Tutsi in 1994 and bodies of murdered innocent people are carefully kept bodies in various genocide memorials throughout Rwanda. The exhibition in the Rwanda Genocide Memorials tell the history of Rwanda leading up to genocide in 1994 and catalogues the details of the genocide using photographs, video, written accounts and a range of artifacts. Come to learn the horrible tragedy of Tutsi Genocide of 1994, in different memorial sites including Kigali Genocide Memorial, Nyamata, Ntarama, Murambi, etc.
