The western of Rwanda is a region contiguous with Democratic Republic of Congo and the area with mountain Forests. It is also a home for the endemic specie to the Albertine Rift region. The forests include Nyungwe National Park, Mukura and Gishwati Forest reserves and Volcanoes National Park. On the border with DRC, Lake Kivu with spectaculars islands, make a physical separation between two countries.
Volcanic National Park/Parc National des Volcans is well known for its undulating volcanoes that give a spectacular view of Mount Karisimbi, Bisoke, Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura and a home for Critically Endangered Mountain Gorillas.
After breakfast, we will drive to the Akagera National Park its 2 hours drive from Kigali City.
The Akagera National Park is set at a relatively low altitude in the border with Tanzania and it could scarcely be more different in mood to the breezy cultivated hills that characterize much of Rwanda.
Tracking amongst the mountain Gorillas is one of the most memorable experiences in lifetime. People with a short period in Rwanda (coming for workshops, in transit, busy business) and don’t want to miss a life changing experience with the gorillas, a one day visit is organized for them.
